Mango Kanten Soft, sweet and sour, mango is the most popular fruit enjoyed during summertime among people of all ages. Simmering sugar, fresh mango paste, white bean paste, imported Japanese kanten and trehalose sugar, this low calorie confection is different from other Japanese desserts in that it has a firmer texture. Consumed after refrigeration, it is the best complement to a relaxing and enjoyable summer. NT$56 per cup. Black Sesame Kanten Infused with calcium rich black sesame powder, the powder is then heated with kanten powder and a white bean paste with a sweetness degree of 53, creating a sweet and palatable dessert that has a unique taste and fragrance. It may be enjoyed cold or warm. NT$56 per cup. White Peach Kanten Infused with sweet peach juice, it is the best remedy to cool you down from the summer heat. Fresh white peaches are made into a paste which is then combined with white bean paste and kanten which is carefully simmered until taking a solid gelatin form. With every bite, you can taste the refreshing peach juice sweetness. NT$56 per cup. Mango Daifuku With a slightly sweet outer layer made from mochi flour, the inside filling is loaded with freshly dried mango, mango paste, and white bean paste, creating a more than satisfying summertime delight. NT$68 each. Green Plum Daifuku The sour yet sweet taste of green plums makes it a wonderful treat to quench thirst in the summer. Glutinous rice powder is steamed then mixed with sugar for a bouncy wrapping dough, and the filling is a mixture of white bean paste and dried plum meat for the perfect balance of sweet and sour. NT$38 each. Grape Daifuku Fragrant grape juice is mixed with white bean paste to create the outer layer of the chewy grape daifuku. To top it off, red wine is added to the mix to accentuate the rich grape flavors. NT$38 each. Green Tea Tokoroten The crystal clear aqua outer shell of this treat is like the vastness of the ocean. Gelatin powder, sugar, and agar are boiled then added with green tea powder and white bean paste, then placed in the refrigerator when it has cooled to 45 degrees. In the summer, the Japanese like to increase the water content and decrease the amount of kanten used to give it a lighter, more refreshing taste. NT$40 each.
